Parish Life Conferences: Growing Together in Christ
For generations, Parish Life Conferences have been one of the greatest blessings of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. More than annual gatherings, they are joyful celebrations of our Orthodox Faith that bring together clergy and faithful from every parish within each Diocese to worship, learn, serve, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as one family in Christ.
Every Diocese hosts its own Parish Life Conference, providing opportunities for Church Services, Christian education, organizational meetings, youth programs, Bible Bowl, Oratorical Festival, choir participation, fellowship, and countless moments that encourage spiritual growth and lifelong friendships. These Conferences continue to strengthen our parishes, inspire our youth, support our ministries, and renew our shared commitment to the life and mission of the Church.
Parish Life Conferences also serve as a valuable extension of parish ministry. They provide clergy and faithful with opportunities that complement the life of the local parish by fostering spiritual renewal, strengthening relationships across parish communities, encouraging participation in Archdiocesan ministries, and offering experiences that enrich the ongoing work of the Church throughout the year.
A review of Parish Life Conference attendance from 2022 through 2026 provides encouraging evidence of the vitality of this important ministry. Across the seven Dioceses of the Archdiocese, participation reached 3,573 registered attendees in 2026, the highest annual total during the five-year period and an increase of more than 26 percent since 2022. These encouraging results reflect the dedication of our clergy, the enthusiasm of our faithful, and the tremendous efforts of our host parishes and organizing committees throughout North America.
Every Diocese contributes to this success in its own unique way. Some have experienced remarkable growth in recent years, while others have demonstrated exceptional consistency in bringing their faithful together year after year. In 2026, the Diocese of Los Angeles and the West experienced an 80 percent increase in registrations compared to its average attendance over the previous four years (2022–2025), while the Diocese of Ottawa, Eastern Canada and Upstate New York welcomed a record 506 registered participants.
Behind every successful Parish Life Conference are faithful servants who generously offer their time and talents. Host pastors, parish councils, organizing committees, volunteers, choir members, youth leaders, clergy wives, speakers, presenters, and parishioners all work together to create welcoming environments where every participant feels at home.
While attendance statistics provide one measure of success, they tell only part of the story. The true fruits of our Parish Life Conferences are found in lives strengthened through worship, children and young adults who deepen their love for Christ and His Church, ministries that flourish through collaboration, and relationships that continue to enrich our diocesan families long after each Conference has concluded.
The Department of Convention and Conference Planning extends its heartfelt gratitude to our Diocesan Conference Coordinators, every host parish and host pastor, every organizing committee, and every volunteer who contributes to the continued success of our Parish Life Conferences. Through their commitment, hospitality, creativity, and faithful service, this ministry continues to flourish and strengthen the life of our Archdiocese.
As we look to the future, the Department of Convention and Conference Planning is excited by the many opportunities that lie ahead. Building upon the strong foundation established by generations of faithful clergy and volunteers, we remain committed to supporting each Diocese in developing Parish Life Conferences that continue to inspire participation, strengthen parish life, engage future generations, and glorify God.
Together, we look forward with confidence as this cherished ministry continues to grow, serving as a source of spiritual renewal, fellowship, and unity for Orthodox Christians across North America for many years to come.
The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America Department of Conventions and Conference Planning (DCCP) oversees the planning, location, and execution of all Biennial Archdiocese Conventions and all annual Diocesan Parish Life Conferences (PLC).
Biennial Archdiocese Convention is held in odd-numbered years during the last full week in July, Sunday to Sunday. Hosting an Archdiocese Convention is over a six-year process. To begin the process, the host parish must submit a bid form.
Annual Diocesan Parish Life Conference (PLC) is held each year between May & July. Each diocese has a PLC Coordinator to aid the hosting parish in planning & executing the PLC.
All Parish Life Conferences and Archdiocesan Conventions are required to use the Antiochian Events Registration System. The DCCP requires all Parish Life Conferences and Archdiocesan Conventions to charge a processing fee to all teens, adults, and clergy who do not purchase any event ticket(s) to offset administrative expenses. It is the policy of the DCCP that no event ticket has a price less than the price of the processing fee; see Policies and Requirements for more information.
Potential host parishes should not contact hotels until they contact the DCCP Co-chairs. No contract or any form of commitment can be made without the guidance and approval of the DCCP.
