Schema-Igumen Luc is the Abbot of the Hermitage of the Annunciation (OCA). After being a monk in the Catholic Church in France, he was received in the Orthodox Church and founded a monastic cell in Halifax (Nova Scotia) in 1995. The community developed, and in the Fall of 2003 the monks moved to the countryside for a more secluded and hidden life. A church was built, and the monastic community chose to be placed under the protection of the Most Holy Mother of God. In 2012, the Sisterhood of Martha and Mary was founded. It is a group of pious ladies dedicated to supporting the life of the Hermitage. Their work of love and prayer was blessed by Metropolitan Ephrem of Tripoli, a friend of the monastery.
