Erik is a licensed clinical professional counselor in Maryland. After earning a bachelor’s degree and working in publishing and youth ministry, he realized that psychology was a passion and a calling. He attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (2003) in Massachusetts to receive an M.A. in Counseling, and went to work for two years providing emergency psychiatric evaluations which honed his diagnostic and crisis intervention skills while he also started his practice as a counselor and psychotherapist. Upon moving to Maryland, he worked as a behaviorist in a weight management program and continued psychotherapy and counseling at Vital Sources. He and his wife then moved to the Middle East where he worked in a cross-cultural setting for six years. Having returned to Maryland and to the Vital Sources team, Erik counsels people with all types of issues, such as life transitions, depression and anxiety, addictions, weight issues, bipolar disorder, marital difficulties, premarital counseling and more. Believing who we are is manifested in relationship, he seeks to develop a therapeutic relationship with his clients that helps them change from the inside out to become more fully who they really are.
